On July 5, 2024, the State Council of Professors issued Decision No. 25/QD-HDGSNN, approving the list of scientific journals to be scored in 2024. As a result, the Journal of Hydro-Meteorology (the Journal), under the Viet Nam Meteorological and Hydrological Administration, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, has upgraded its score range to 0-1.0 in the Council of Interdisciplinary Earth Sciences - Mining Professors for 2024. Additionally, it maintains the 0-1.0 score range from the Council of Professors of Water Resources and the 0-0.5 score range from the Council of Professors of Mechanics.
The Journal, with international standard code ISSN 2525-2208, is the only official scientific publication of the Viet Nam Meteorological and Hydrological Administration. It evolved from its predecessor, Noi san KTTV, first published on April 20, 1956. Over nearly 70 years, the Journal has established itself as a prestigious national scientific publication while pursuing international integration. Initially scoring 0-0.5 from the Council of Professors and Associate Professors in 2017 and the Council of Interdisciplinary Professors of Earth Sciences - Mining in 2019, the Journal has undergone significant structural changes and comprehensive reforms to improve publication quality and editorial professionalism.
These efforts led to the Council of Interdisciplinary Professors of Earth Sciences recognizing the Journal with a score range of 0-0.75 in 2020 and raising it to 0-1.0 in 2024. It also maintains the 0-1.0 score range from the Council of Professors of Water Resources for 2019-2024.
Currently, the Journal publishes 12 issues in Vietnamese and 4 in English, and it is indexed in several prestigious international and national databases: Google Scholar, Scilit, CiteFactor, Publons, SJIF, ResearchGate, Turnitin, V-CitationGate, and VJOL. The Journal has built a network of 226 scientists and experts with doctorate degrees or higher, from 56 independent units across Vietnam. In 2023, the Journal saw an increase in its impact index (Vietnamese IF = 1.82; English IF = 0.68) and citation index (Vietnamese SciteScore = 1.88; English SciteScore = 1.15).
The Journal's success is attributed to the leadership and support of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam, the Viet Nam Meteorological and Hydrological Administration, the Editorial Board, scientists, experts, authors, and the collective efforts of its staff. The Journal aspires to become a leading publication in the hydro-meteorological industry, both domestically and internationally, and hopes to continue receiving trust, support, and resources to grow and develop further.
